Mario is in the hearts and minds of the DV Cast this week, as are his many friends and enemies. Especially the enemies, but that comes later. You see, Stephen and Bryan have been playing oodles of Super Mario 3D World, a game tells the tail of King Koopa Meow-ser as he hatches the purr-fect plan to cat-ure Princess Peach and whisk ‘er away. As for the Wii-U-less Cameron, he’s been enduring the Samsara Cheese Wheel of Eternity in his arch-nemesis Dark Souls between long bouts of StarCraft Talk with baneling basher Bryan. History Time looks back on Mario memories, fond and finicky alike, before It’s-a Who? takes the world by storm with its quiz-like horrors. If this podcast were a piece of scenery, it would have little cartoon eyes like in the Mushroom Kingdom. It’s just that lively.
What are your go-to games, reader and potential listener? Which ones do you never tire of playing, or even if you do, you continue consuming because you are physically/mentally unable to stop? The DV Cast (minus Zach) shed their own light on this cold-button issue (a cold-button issue is something that nobody else is really talking about), which serves as the theme of Episode 101. Summarize a Game in Five Words gives poetry to opinion while brand new segment Steamed Broccoli encourages the invasion of privacy via Steam history, each of them tying into go-to games in their own special way. You’ll also hear about Typing of the Dead: Overkill’s secret to success, the yakuza’s involvement in The Sims 3, and 1080 Avalanche’s affordable madness. There’s also some StarCraft Talk, but it would be easier to count the episodes not featuring Zerg-related conversation at this point.
It’s another fun-filled episode, filled with fun-filled fun! Bryan explains the reason for his fishiness while Stephen and Cameron yell at each a lot. Uncharted 3 is deemed sub-par when compared its predecessor (yet excessively par on its own) and a great number of spoiler-free Portal 2 jokes are thrown out in a jovial manner. When asked which gaming experience would be the greatest to relive, Cameron yearned for a criminal history that, incredibly enough, does not involve pirating; Stephen and Bryan had less devious yet equally magical memories to share. After a bunch of games were reviewed in five words each, it was revealed that no games of interest were released and the podcast ended.
